Spina Bifida Association
of Washington State
formerly, The Evergreen Spina Bifida Association
Dear SBA Supporter:
SBA has an exciting opportunity available to its supporters to
help the
organization raise $10,000 through an online sweepstakes promoting the CBS
Films inspirational drama "Extraordinary Measures" starring Harrison Ford and Brendan
Fraser premiering in theaters January 22, 2010.
How does the promotion work:
CBS Films,
the producer of "Extraordinary Measures," has developed an
inspirational digital quilt
(http://extraordinarymeasuresthemovie.com/#/quilt)
where real life videos of courage, endurance, and triumph are showcased. These videos
have been selected, in part, because they support the theme of the movie.
We are
excited to announce that SBA's video "Abigail Branson Not Limited
by Spina Bifida"
has been selected for inclusion in the quilt.
Viewers of the site can vote to support
the video they enjoy. The video
which receives the most votes will win $10,000 for
the charity. The
winner will be announced on or around February 5, 2010.
Odds of winning
the Grand Prize depend on the number of eligible video
entries and votes received
during the submission period. Each vote on
our video is another "entry point" into
the Sweepstakes. The more votes
our video receives the greater our chances of winning.
Film Background
In the tradition of great inspirational dramas like the Academy Award
nominated
films "Erin Brockovich" and The Pursuit of Happyness,"
"Extraordinary Measures" http://extraordinarymeasuresthemovie.com/#/home
is
inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied
conventional wisdom and
great odds, and risked his family's future to
pursue a cure for his children's life
threatening disease. From his
working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has
finally begun to
taste success in corporate America. Supported by his wife Aileen
(Keri
Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just
as his
career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two
youngest children,
Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal
disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing
all of his skill and
determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated
and
unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford).
